What this tool changes

A signature is mostly white space, so file size is driven by the paper texture and shadows. We flatten the image onto a clean white background and tune the quality until the size sits inside the range.

Common upload problems

The paper looks grey or shadowed: Retake the photo in daylight with the phone directly above the paper, avoiding your own shadow.
The signature looks too small in the frame: Crop tightly around the strokes before uploading so the signature fills the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Can I draw the signature on my phone instead?: You can, but most portals ask for a scan of a signature made on paper, so a photograph of real ink is safer.
