Compress Image to 20KB
A 20 KB limit is one of the tightest you will meet on an application form. Upload your image and we will squeeze it under 20 KB while protecting as much sharpness as possible.

Private by design. This tool runs entirely inside your browser — your file is never uploaded to us or to any other server. How this works

What this tool produces
- Target size: 20 KB maximum.
- Output format: JPG.
- Tight limits work best with a tightly cropped picture — head and shoulders only for a photograph.
- Supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP and other image formats your browser can open. iPhone HEIC files must be shared as JPG first.
How to use this tool
- Upload the image you need to submit.
- Leave the limit at 20 KB, or lower it if the portal is strict.
- Press Prepare image.
- Confirm the green Ready to upload result and download.
What this tool changes
Only the file size changes. At 20 KB there is very little room, so we test the quality ladder step by step and, if needed, reduce the pixel size so the picture stays recognisable rather than blocky.
Common upload problems
- My photograph became blurry at 20 KB
- Crop closely around the face before compressing. A 200 × 230 crop reaches 20 KB far more cleanly than a full-body photo.
- The result is much smaller than 20 KB
- That happens with simple images such as signatures. If your form also sets a minimum, use the custom tool and enter the range.

Frequently asked questions
- Why do forms ask for 20 KB?
- Portals store lakhs of applications, so they cap each file. 20 KB is a common cap for passport-style photographs and signatures.
- Can I compress a PNG to 20KB?
- Yes. Upload the PNG and you will get a JPG back, which reaches small sizes far more efficiently.
